Rory’s Story Cubes, by Gamewright, is a simple toy that allows both children and adults to use our imaginations.
It is a perfect game for solitary play or a party. Two things children love are looking at pictures and stories. This game combines those to let their imaginations run wild creating their own stories from images.
The game pieces are few: 9 dice with six images on each for a total of 54 images. These images can form over ten million combinations for endless story possibilities. Not only that, it can be played alone or with as many players as you would like to add. Imagine the delight young brains will get as they are prompted to create their own wild stories from the random assortment of images that appear on the cubes.
This simple game is designed to reinforce artistic expression. All you do is roll the dice and see what images turn up. These images are used to create a story. No one can make mistakes or get anything wrong with Rory’s Story Cubes. You can keep the game open-ended, with no time limit, or you can set a timer to add some extra challenge to the game.
Not only is Rory’s Story Cubes a highly entertaining game, but it also targets the development of critical skills such as problem solving, listening and speaking. Children can sit down with these cubes and be captivated for hours on end. This can really come in handy on long trips since the number of ways to play with the Story Cubes is infinite.
Although Rory’s Story Cubes were designed with children in mind, adults can have just as much fun with this game. They can join their children or they can use them for adult parties (they make excellent ice breakers). Either way, they’ll be a guaranteed huge hit that everyone will be talking about for a long time.
Grandparents report that they love playing this with their grandchildren. They enjoy hearing the stories the children make up. Another reason they like it may well be because everyone is a winner-no tears because someone else won.
Rory’s Story Cubes come in a handy size that lets you take them anywhere, anytime you want to have some fun. Just roll the cubes and use the pictures to fire up your imagination. This amazing little story generator can turn anyone into a master storyteller. Use your rolled images to get you going and you’ll find that it’s so simple to just keep spinning your yarn.
Even though it carries a minimum age of eight years old, many younger children are also able to join in on the fun. There’s no reading involved so all that’s needed is to be able to understand the images depicted on the cubes. Children as young as four years old can probably do that, especially if these children are intellectually advanced. Their parents will delight in playing this amazing game with them.
Rory’s Story Cubes is one of those simple toys that is full of possibilities for fun. The choices of how to use the Story Cubes are many, but what remains the same is the imaginative fun that everyone has with them no matter what their ages. Rory’s Story Cubes, by Gamewright

Sesame Street’s Let’s Rock Elmo toy set is sure to be a “must have” gift on many children’s Christmas wish lists. Elmo, a Muppet on Sesame Street, has been a favorite of children, particularly preschoolers, for a number of years. A few Christmases ago the toy at the top of many children’s lists was Tickle Me Elmo. This year the Let’s Rock Elmo toy set is likely to join Tickle Me Elmo in popularity.
Let’s Rock Elmo is fun and interactive; with it budding musicians as young as 18 months can make beautiful music. This toy is easy for little hands to operate and Elmo invites children to join him in singing six songs that are rocking as well as educational.
Elmo, that lovable red Muppet, wears a concert style T-shirt and holds a tambourine or plays a drum set while he sings into a microphone. These items are included in the set. To get a child really excited, assemble a full band by purchasing the additional Let’s Rock instruments- a keyboard and a guitar. These items that are sold separately will add to a child’s fun and can be added later if desired.
With the flip of a switch, Elmo begins to rock out, keeping in sync with the music. Moving his arms, Elmo beats the drums or shakes his tambourine and sings into the microphone. All of the instruments are built from sturdy plastic and created to fit the small hands of a preschooler. Hitting the button hidden on Elmo’s foot lets children select which of the six songs they want to play.
For even more rocking fun, Elmo also interacts with children when they playing the Let’s Rock instruments that are sold separately. He knows when a child is playing the Let’s Rock Guitar or Keyboard and plays along with them!
The ability of Elmo to interact with children promises to bring about huge smiles and giggles of delight. Elmo makes children want to join him in creating music. His version of the Alphabet Song lets children rock and roll while learning their ABCs. Other songs Elmo sings are: Elmo Likes to Rock and Roll, What Elmo Likes About You, It Takes Two, Elmo’s World, and Sing Out! These songs all encourage a child to dance, clap and jump.
Elmo performs at his best when he’s placed on a hard surface, particularly when he’s playing the drums. The Let’s Rock Elmo can withstand some fairly rough play, but he is mechanical so he should be treated gently whenever possible. Also, because he’s mechanical he isn’t as cuddly as he looks and is not intended to be used as a crib or bed toy. Once Elmo is turned on starts rocking and rolling with those six songs he comes programmed with, a child won’t even care that their musical Muppet isn’t a “sleep” toy.
Sesame Street’s Let’s Rock Elmo gets good reviews from parents and grandparents. The only negative review on Amazon dealt with the price. If you are looking for a gift that is sure to be a hit with a preschooler, Let’s Rock Elmo is well worth considering.

Little ones love the Poppin’ Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper
! This fun toy is for ages 9 months and up and provides unlimited play fun for young children.
The Poppin’ Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper is loaded with balls, and when turned on it gently shoots them out of its trunk. When they pop out it’s anyone’s guess where they will go. A little one will never know where the balls will land, and they will have fun going after them. Sometimes the balls end up back on the elephant’s big ears or in its tummy, and other times they will fall unpredictably. All of this adds to the fun. The child can then gather up the colorful balls and load them into the Ball Popper for another round of fun.
To make it even more fun, the Poppin’ Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper is musical and plays 10 different tunes. Now, that sounds great, but there is one word of caution that needs to be shared. The unit uses air to blow the balls out of the elephant’s trunk. This is accomplished through the use of a fan, and some people feel that the fan is a bit noisy. However, the addition of music makes this a non-issue, though it’s good to be aware of it.
The Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper , which is available in either pink or blue, is a Playskool product so you know you can trust its quality. It uses 4 D-cell batteries to operate the fan and the elephant to do its thing. The ball popper is just the right size, and it comes with a base to make it more stable. Tipping isn’t a major problem, but let’s remember that little ones have a way of knocking things over (again, this shows that Playskool knows their stuff when it comes to making toys for younger children). The trunk can also be moved from side to side which changes where the balls will go.
This toy helps a child develop fine motor skills through grabbing balls from the elephant’s tummy and dropping them in the elephant’s ears. It also provides a fun way for children to learn cause and effect. When a child drops balls into the toy, the balls pop out in a different place.
Playskool recommends this toy for children who are 9 months and older, but it’s definitely not a toy meant for babies only. The Poppin’ Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper is the kind of toy that will stimulate little ones, get them active, make them curious, and will also help them to develop their motor skills as well as discovering the relationship between cause and effect. While it may be an educational toy, it won’t feel like one when you see just how delighted your child is when they’re playing with it.
The Poppin’ Park Elefun Busy Ball Popper has a lot going for it: it’s made by Playskool, it plays music, it provides hours of unpredictable fun, it’s cute, and it just so happens that it’s educational too! This is a toy that is a must-have if you have a small child, or if there’s a small child on your Christmas list.
