Sesame Street Let’s Rock Elmo
Sesame Street’s Let’s Rock Elmo toy set is sure to be a “must have” gift on many children’s Christmas wish lists. Elmo, a Muppet on Sesame Street, has been a favorite of children, particularly preschoolers, for a number of years. A few Christmases ago the toy at the top of many children’s lists was Tickle Me Elmo. This year the Let’s Rock Elmo toy set is likely to join Tickle Me Elmo in popularity.
Let’s Rock Elmo is fun and interactive; with it budding musicians as young as 18 months can make beautiful music. This toy is easy for little hands to operate and Elmo invites children to join him in singing six songs that are rocking as well as educational.
Elmo, that lovable red Muppet, wears a concert style T-shirt and holds a tambourine or plays a drum set while he sings into a microphone. These items are included in the set. To get a child really excited, assemble a full band by purchasing the additional Let’s Rock instruments- a keyboard and a guitar. These items that are sold separately will add to a child’s fun and can be added later if desired.
With the flip of a switch, Elmo begins to rock out, keeping in sync with the music. Moving his arms, Elmo beats the drums or shakes his tambourine and sings into the microphone. All of the instruments are built from sturdy plastic and created to fit the small hands of a preschooler. Hitting the button hidden on Elmo’s foot lets children select which of the six songs they want to play.
For even more rocking fun, Elmo also interacts with children when they playing the Let’s Rock instruments that are sold separately. He knows when a child is playing the Let’s Rock Guitar or Keyboard and plays along with them!
The ability of Elmo to interact with children promises to bring about huge smiles and giggles of delight. Elmo makes children want to join him in creating music. His version of the Alphabet Song lets children rock and roll while learning their ABCs. Other songs Elmo sings are: Elmo Likes to Rock and Roll, What Elmo Likes About You, It Takes Two, Elmo’s World, and Sing Out! These songs all encourage a child to dance, clap and jump.
Elmo performs at his best when he’s placed on a hard surface, particularly when he’s playing the drums. The Let’s Rock Elmo can withstand some fairly rough play, but he is mechanical so he should be treated gently whenever possible. Also, because he’s mechanical he isn’t as cuddly as he looks and is not intended to be used as a crib or bed toy. Once Elmo is turned on starts rocking and rolling with those six songs he comes programmed with, a child won’t even care that their musical Muppet isn’t a “sleep” toy.
Sesame Street’s Let’s Rock Elmo gets good reviews from parents and grandparents. The only negative review on Amazon dealt with the price. If you are looking for a gift that is sure to be a hit with a preschooler, Let’s Rock Elmo is well worth considering.
